From the complaint description it sounds more like attempted Acqui-hiring.
After that meeting in 2013, Apple apparently hired away several key-members of Masimo with knowledge about their non-invasive biometric monitoring tech, including their "Chief Medical Officer and EVP for Medical Affairs", who already joined Apple in that same year...
- kgwgk 3y ago> it sounds more like attempted Acqui-hiring. Except for the missing “acqui” bit, maybe? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acqui-hiring https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acqui-hiring
- rickdeckard 3y agoMore like a "hostile acqui-hire" maybe? They attempted to acquire a specific tech of Masimo by hiring the key resources instead of acquiring the company (or parts of it). I'd call it an "attempt" because in the end Apple needed the "acqui-hires" to build something that was left behind in Masimo and was already patented.
- kelipso 3y agoIt's not acqui-hiring without the acquisition. This is just poaching, breaking confidentiality agreements, and patent infringement.
