As a millennial, I can agree with them on this. The second Matrix movie would've been as good if not better than the first, if it weren't for the weird Zion sex scene between Neo & Trinity.
Those type of scenes don't further the plot, but rather push out the engagement of the film from a viewers perspective.
- mikhael28 3y agoDawg, in a world controlled by machines, an act of love by human beings is an act of resistance. They weren't using rubbers man, having kids itself is an act of resistance. In Zion. I don't think you really vibed with the Matrix if you just thought it was some kung-fu, cypherpunk fever dream. It's about the war between humans and machines, and in that context, the sex scene was necesssary.
- logicalmonster 3y agoThe rave sex scene is frequently critiqued when the Matrix movies are discussed. I don't think a lot of the criticism of the Matrix's sex scene was actually about Neo and Trinity having sex, but about how it was shot and edited and how uncomfortably long the entire scene lasted.
- mikhael28 3y agoThat's fair, I haven't watched the movie in a couple years, but thinking back it's a bit on the longer side. I don't remember thinking it was uncomfortable or uncomfortably long, but I guess I'm in the minority.
