Simple. Mindgeek (PH parent company) is not publicly traded. They don't have the same shareholder pressure for constant growth the way Google does.
However, I'm sure there's also an aspect of porn advertisers being less picky and the site just generally being simpler/cheaper to run than YouTube.
- tetromino_ 3y agoFurthermore, MindGeek is based in Canada, where engineer compensation is something like 2-3 times lower than at FAANG in Silicon Valley; and reportedly (according to a few pseudonymous comments I saw) it does not pay very well even by Canadian standards.
