The problem with firing bastards is the asymmetry. The disgruntled ex can bullshit on social media but the director can't do the same. The reasons for the firing are, in any civilised nation, privileged information, and it's undignified. About to get on a plane to attend court because of a vindictive narcissist who damaged the company I volunteer for. This person is on their second lawyer and I highly doubt they have told the new lawyer everything. The previous lawyer was completely blindsided, lol. I think we just have to wait for the mud to dry and then brush it off. But it's infuriating.
