I think this is probably an underestimate, given the existence of a lot of the maturation, immune recruitment and immune cell genesis happens within specialized organs (the spleen, bone marrow, thymus, and lymph nodes). Of course, it depends what you consider a system.
- b3lvedere 3y agoThe immmune system is so incredibly complex and it's quite amazing how it works. If you are just a little bit interested i highly recommend the book "Immune: A Journey into the Mysterious System That Keeps You Alive" by Philipp Dettmer, the creator of Kurzgesagt. It's a really fun book to read and learn about your immune system.
