Client-side scanning can't and won't work because: 1. Users can scramble the files to pass scans. 2. Users can use the same client-side scanners as black boxes to verify. There is no scenario in which client-side scanning works unless the user is not allowed to modify anything on the system. Not the images, not the software. Mark my words, the only thing this will be good at is identifying honest law-abiding citizens with political causes that are not aligned with their current government. If this passes, real democracy, the sort that ends unpopular government-endorsed laws like race discrimination and prohibition, will die in the EU.
