Turning the temperature down to ~60F from ~72F is not freezing. Turning it down from ~72F down to 0F would be freezing, and I bet that would earn you way more than a candy. Maybe some frostbite too though.
I've seen the amount of food a Chukchi man would go through in a winter day, and even despite doing a not excessive amount of work, he would still be eating easily 5000 calories per day. During the summer, it was closer to 3000 or so.
- Reubend 3y agoCan you share a little more detail about the Chukchi diet? What does 5000 calories look like there in the winter?
- genocidicbunny 3y agoLots and lots of meat, fat and fish, with some stuff like berries and preserved summer vegetables mixed in. Meat and fish are preserved by drying or mixing with fat and berries/herbs, sort of like pemmican. Fresher meats tend to be boiled and dipped in the melted fat, but you couldn't really eat those on the go. In many ways, it's similar to the Inuit diet, adapted to similar conditions.
