- PaulHoule 3y agoCurrent Bitcoin ETFs are based on options and don't track Bitcoin very well so you can't say that you are "buying Bitcoin" by buying a Bitcoin ETF. It seems Bitcoin ETFs will enter the market that really buy Bitcoin. Assuming there is a market of people who'd like to have Bitcoin in their portfolio this could be really popular. Instead of having to deal with some crypto exchange like FTX you could just go to some reputable broker like Fidelity and buy a Bitcoin ETF the same way you might buy SPDR or VOO. Institutional investors who might not be able to deal with crypto directly might find this works for them. If it expands the universe of people interested in Bitcoin it might drive the price up and restart the crypto fever which has blessedly subsided.
