Ask HN: Struggling to Find a LinkedIn Substitute?
I'm struggling to find use to Linkedin anymore to change jobs. Is there any new trendy website oriented to share job offers that I'm missiong out? I mean, the usual github site with projects and stuff I feel does not serve all use cases and Linkedin this days is more a Tiktok social thing than the old (and useful) website.
- yogini 3y agoHi there, I am building peerlist.io, its the Professional Networking platform for people in Tech and Startups. Why you should consider Peerlist - 1. It has a good job board with 200+ quality jobs 2. It has verified profiles where you can verify your present work experience 3. A strong community of tech and startup people. Do check this :)
- Slacking4125 3y agoWhat all you mentioned sounds good and can be found at many places. What is that peerlist got and ‘commit to’ that others don’t
- ipaddr 3y ago200+ jobs you may not see elsewhere
- altdataseller 3y agoI was able to find the first 3 jobs in your jobs section elsewhere. https://jobs.lever.co/tesorio/a702e44a-7329-43df-bff6-0a05f49c7747 https://jobs.lever.co/tesorio/a702e44a-7329-43df-bff6-0a05f4... https://transak.com/careers https://transak.com/careers https://scale.com/careers/4328006005 https://scale.com/careers/4328006005
- fhaldridge7 3y agonot sure if you care but your frontpage is using 15%-30% CPU to load on my 2017 macbook, making the fans spin. it's worse than linkedin
- snakey 3y agoThere’s read.cv which is a network, portfolio and job posting site that’s more focused towards the design community. I have seen software dev jobs posted in there too. I’ve also struggled to find an alternative to LinkedIn (which is unbearable at times). Maybe the way forward is for each community to have its own unique platform, like read.cv for the design community, another for games, embedded, etc. Aside from that Hacker news who’s hiring has been the most useful in discovering opportunities for me personally although I realise this is focused mainly on technology roles. https://read.cv/ https://read.cv/

- cpach 3y agoHN has a substite: https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=whoishiring https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=whoishiring You might also want to consider expanding your network to get more interesting leads. 'patio11 once wrote this: “Do not send in a job application before you have an actual human being who has expressed enthusiasm for reading or forwarding it.” AFAICT it’s still sound advice. Best of luck!
