To me this happens naturally, Looking at the diff first, if I know the codebase well might be enough to get a sense of the changes, or at least understand their isolation. However, as soon as I start to feel that I don't fully understand the implications, I quickly check the branch out and poke in an editor. OP is right though, if the "check out in editor" workflow was much smoother (than quick web view) I would prefer to always do that
