Except it’s not a dichotomy like that, there are more strands than just optimistic and pessimistic, and different ways of approaching those topics. Further people may be more or less optimistic about different areas of technology. And that’s without considering views outside of technology! So trying to draw correlation between potential for success and opinion seems prone to give incorrect results. Likewise the characterisation also seems more like a safety blanket against criticism then a sensible way to consider the world.
