Meredith Whittaker (Signal) on resisting government threats to privacy
- ggm 3y agoI like the clarity she brings to discussions. No obfuscation. Her critique of telegram may be contested but she seems to have made a valid point about what they say and what they do. And, she's abundantly clear signal cannot magic woo woo away side channel risks of using their code, sending packets through untrusted paths: your actual words should be secret but they can't guarantee what else leaks from a device which has 3rd party apps installed, or a network which can monitor what you do. Their stance on the regulatory environment is solid: if you pass laws which require us to back-door, we're closing down in your economy.
