Medical cannabis has been around since the 90's, and it was mostly potent strains that were preferred and shared among cardholders. High CBD strains may be helpful for anxiety in some people, and are amazing for epileptic seizures. However, medical cannabis is prescribed for many other conditions as well. The pain relieving effects of cannabis are multifaceted, but generally speaking, strains with a higher ration of THC:CBD are going to perform better here (that doesn't at all mean higher THC = more pain relief, though).
