Why do some countries develop and others not? (2019)

  Why did New York develop and Mississippi did not? You can't blame it on exchange rates or unfair trade rules.

    While Mississippi is not as developed as NYC, it is still developed overall. Almost everyone has electric service and safe drinking water. While the ecconomic numbers don't look as good, the reality of those living there is mostly good. (Even blacks who face significant issues)

    >Why do some countries develop and others not? Somebody, somewhere needs to have a progress mindset. And most everybody else needs to have behaviors that do not inhibit that progress. Or even worse, reverse it. >Why did New York develop and Mississippi did not? Maybe the same reason Vermont is not as metropolitan as New York either. With Mississippi it could be because New Orleans was already there. Education can be important. Perhaps an unbroken chain of near-universal multi-generational emphasis on formal education can be hard to compare to any other way.
