It is indeed embarrassing that "replace(chr(0x0020), chr(0x2004))" is an "algorithm" and that a paper can be submitted about it... *rant

- 1f60c 3y agoFWIW, almost anyone can submit almost anything to arXiv.
- extraduder_ire 3y agoI'm surprised it took this long for someone to write it up as a paper. I assume there's plenty of other somewhat obvious things that could be written up and published, if they haven't already.
- abdullahkhalids 3y agoJust a fun rejoinder. One of the most important 'papers' [1] in the history of quantum mechanics was a short 'letter to the editor' by Bohr, in which he quickly plugged some numbers into a formula and compared with a recent experiment. Probably didn't take him more than a few hours to write it. That observation told us that we were on the right track of both predicting and explaining the spectra of atoms. Of course, this paper is likely nothing like Bohr's work. But sometimes very simple ideas have far reaching consequences. [1] https://zenodo.org/records/1429570 https://zenodo.org/records/1429570
