Seems like a good time for the quip "all models are wrong, some models are useful" I agree that these models are not literal binning functions of Normative Truth, but rather they are intended to be useful. Another way to consider: everything natural is analog (afaik), and everything digital is human-culture influenced. So whenever you see X categories, it's ALWAYS arbitrary humanness. For me personally, realizing this made me get over whether something was "right or wrong" and back to whether it was useful or not.
