I don't think you can prepare, other than disbelieve most of what you see online. Almost no one has time to check, especially when modified content feeds into levied tropes against an unfavored candidate (however you define it). A good chunk of it is pernicious. The legislation will need to catch up around AI-usage in elections, but the consequences of this are already stark.
