My understanding is that the Dark Triad traits are more or less sub-clinical personality disorders. As I understand it, personality disorders tend to be extremely difficult to treat. Just an anecdote, but I once asked a counselor I know about treated psychopaths. They said that psychopaths are almost impossible to treat but they tend to mellow as they get older; so the strategy is to try to keep them from doing anything too bad until they get older.
