I agree with all of what you said, but I would also still caution any friends and family to wait and see for a bit. A year or two isn't very long, and successful drugs do sometimes turn out to be killers. You can't stop people rushing to try it, but you can suggest that the people you care about let those people volunteer as test subjects first.
