Have they found a replacement for plastic yet?
- harimau777 3y agoDepending on the application, aluminum, steel, wood, or cotton are all equal or superior to plastics. The only fairly common application that I know of where there's not a good non-plastic alternative is vegan cold weather clothing. Personally, I think that plastic is mostly used for throwaway consumerism. We'd probably be better off if we went back to making things out of materials that could last.

- Forbo 3y agoA quick search tells me that plastics account for around 4-5% of oil production, so I don't think this is going to be the safety net for the industry that it might look like at first.
- pfdietz 3y agoAnd a great deal of plastic comes from natural gas, not oil.
