Blue-Check/Verified on X Make 74% of Unsubstantiated Claims on Israel-Hamas War
- Amorymeltzer 3y agoNot mentioned here but (as discussed by others) X/Twitter's new(ish) policy of ad revenue sharing is probably also one of the major contributing factors. It rewards engagement, so there's a financial incentive for individuals to gin up misinformation on the platform to generate cash. According to https://help.twitter.com/en/using-x/creator-ads-revenue-sharing https://help.twitter.com/en/using-x/creator-ads-revenue-shar... users need premium, 500 followers, and "5M organic impressions on your cumulative posts within the last 3 months."
- Kelteseth 3y agoI feel like it is the same about German politics on x. When you go to the replies of posts about politic, you see a vast amount of verified pro putin posts. They are all fit in the same category. Like they all have a generic name, profile, some autogenerated description and often a flag in their name. But _all_ have Twitter verified mark.
