In a page I can have the related email threads in an embedded mini-inbox widget - no more swapping to Outlook, no more bullshit with flags/folders etc. Same for related chat windows - a widget in the related section. State tracking and deadline/reminder/scheduling etc for everything. emacs, org-roam, org-mode, org-attach, mu4e, are what I use to accomplish roughly what you describe.
