Redis Insight: GUI App for Redis
- maxpert 3y agoI've watched all the Redis goodness and potential slowly getting locked behind paid license. Specially after departure of the author of Redis. It's kinda sad to see such vibrant ecosystem now feeling stale.

- ceejayoz 3y agoThis appears to be a free (beer) product released under the Server Side Public License? https://github.com/RedisInsight/RedisInsight/blob/main/LICENSE https://github.com/RedisInsight/RedisInsight/blob/main/LICEN...
- qwertox 3y agoCould you elaborate on that? I use Redis with RedisJSON and RedisInsight but think about it around 3-4 times a year, so I'm out of the loop.
- edgyquant 3y agoWeird, I’ve used redis on every app for almost a decade and have seen nothing of the sort
- chetangoti 3y agoThe download links are behind email form. You can use following gist to get the direct links to download packages: https://gist.github.com/shahnhogan/ac2f4e941a07bc75536a495b17351e22/ https://gist.github.com/shahnhogan/ac2f4e941a07bc75536a495b1...
- trvz 3y agoIt's worse than that. You select your OS and enter an email address, then it expands to ask another six questions. This is some vile manipulation; they know fewer people would download it if they immediately showed all eight input fields. Cookie banners are always annoying, but they are also using that even crappier corporate version from one of those "Trust" companies. I've enjoyed using Redis so far, but suddenly I think I'd feel less violated using the Oracle version of MySQL.
- code_runner 3y agoIt’s been a little while, but I believe just running it via docker worked really well also without any forms etc
- dvlsg 3y agoIt's in `brew` as well, looks like. https://formulae.brew.sh/cask/redisinsight https://formulae.brew.sh/cask/redisinsight
- kleff 3y agoI just wish they focused on getting it a bit snappier, its so sluggish at times. Instead i keep going back to RESP.app since its so much quicker.
- somehnguy 3y agoAnother alternative I've used is Another Redis Desktop Manager - https://github.com/qishibo/AnotherRedisDesktopManager https://github.com/qishibo/AnotherRedisDesktopManager. It handles JSON values much better than Redis Insight in my experience.
- gorkish 3y agoI tried writing a custom Sereal decoder plugin for this a while ago but the docs were thin and the example plugins were all adding other functionality. It would be nice to have an example for what I would assume would be probably the most common use case for a plugin, custom decoding for retrieved data. It was easy to build the functionality natively into the app, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't take a patch for an obscure format, so I never really made the effort to take it further. If anyone knows of an boilerplate formatting plugin for RedisInsight, I probably would be able to get it to release.
- e-master 3y agoI just recently tried again Redis Insight after about a year and a half of a break, and boy it got so much better! It was useful before, but it’s even better now. Even small things like the ability to build a tree out of the keys if you use a separator, or syntax highlighting for a bunch of formats such as Json or MsgPack - just awesome. Though I did find it amusing that it has syntax highlighting for pretty exotic formats but not for xml? :) maybe it’s not a posh format anymore, but it’s still very common and would be nice to have it supported in the UI.
- hacknews20 3y agoWhy was this even posted, it’s been around for years and barely changed. Does not make it bad, but what’s the answer to “so what?”
