From what I've read, streaming services generate more profit on the ad tiers than on the ad-free tiers, so they're going to raise ad-free tier prices until that's not true, or IMO will eventually eliminate ad-free altogether.
The last time I actually liked Netflix was when they were having the contests for the best recommendation algorithm, for DVDs. Since they starting producing their own crap, that's all they shoved down my throat, making it impossible to find something I liked. I gave up and canceled it.

I'm always willing to pay the advertising profits out of my own pocket to not see them. But I have started pirating more lately because: 1) Sometimes I just can't figure out which service a certain piece of content is found on. 2) I can't force high bitrate 4k HDR video on streaming platforms. It often knocks me down to 1080p or low bitrate fake "4K". This is despite having multi-gig Fiber. I have to pirate to ensure that I'm watching the best quality that my cheap $200 TV can provide, because Netflix/Disney/etc are too cheap to provide me the product I paid extra for (4K video).
