PayPal app can now track your packages, even if you didn't check out with PayPal
- bell-cot 3y agoLooks like the only meat in the article is this: > Rather than manually entering the order number into a carrier website or searching your email inbox to find the delivery status of a package, PayPal now automatically gathers shipping details and tracks them through Gmail integration. However, if you don’t have a Gmail account linked to PayPal, you can type in the tracking details. In other words, PayPal's app reads your Gmail (hopefully permission is required somewhere for this) and parses tracking data there (probably with a bunch of limitations). Doesn't work if you're using @hotmail.com, or any other email provider. Maybe it's the big industry trend...but I'm both underwhelmed, and wouldn't want to trust PayPal with access to my email.

PayPal is now a Google partner/associate/affiliate --- along with anyone else Google ever chooses to designate as such. Read your TOS carefully and I think you will find that permission has already been granted for this sort of "info sharing".
