"They are typically grown using white-rot filamentous fungi for their inherent ability to decompose lignocellulosic macromolecules. The organic substrate is hydrated, inoculated (with fungal spores, hyphal tissue, or mushroom tissue), and then incubated at ≈25°C under controlled humidity between 7 and 30 days. The as-grown composite is finally oven-dried or hot-pressed at temperatures ranging between 60 and 100 °C to kill the fungus and improve stiffness."
Pleasingly an all organic process.
