Victoria's electric vehicle tax thrown out by High Court
- ClassyJacket 3y agoWhohoo! I just bought a Tesla and was so annoyed about this. Punishing electric vehicles is a terrible idea at this point. I hope this means I won't have to pay it when my registration renews next month. What's really insane about this tax is that it also applied (at 80% of the full rate) to plugin hybrids - essentially taxing them out of existence, as they assume you drive them on electric at 80%, so normal users are taxed double. An insane, regressive and nonsense policy that never should have existed.
