I know Sci fi kind of "solves this" with "hard sci-fi" trying to limit the ideas like time travel and FTL but push our current science the furthest it can go.

I know Sci fi kind of "solves this" with "hard sci-fi" trying to limit the ideas like time travel and FTL but push our current science the furthest it can go. (Three body problem, Blindsight, many others) Maybe there exist some subgenre of military sci fi too?

Oh, there is. See Haldeman's Forever War, Drake's Hammer's Slammers, or Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga. Maybe some of the better MechWarrior novels.
