If you have a VR headset, it's definitely worth it to try Space Engine, which models the entire universe (it has known stars/galaxies catalogued and procedurally generates the rest), and one of my favorite things to do in that game is travel to a star that's in a good vantage point to see a galaxy from just the right angle, and which also has planets (the procedural generation gives the majority of stars planets), land on a planet, and look at the night sky view of the galaxy from the planet's surface. I should try this from the Small Megellanic Cloud some time.
