Why are we working on automating away professional drivers, chefs and grocery clerks before we are these jobs?
Not trolling...legitimate question. Seems like a lot easier task to me.
- jazzyjackson 3y agoIsn't that what Zillow tried to do and lost billions doing it? Sure they got greedy but what is the point of automation if you're not pocketing the 6% for your shareholders instead of a realtor? https://fortune.com/2022/06/02/zillow-6-billion-home-flipping-business-housing-market-fortune-500/amp/ https://fortune.com/2022/06/02/zillow-6-billion-home-flippin...
- Ccecil 3y agoI know that Zillow had some goals... But from my perspective (possibly not informed enough) their main purpose was to collude to drive up prices. In my city everyone started by saying "Lol...Zillow shows my house being way higher than it should be." and within a few years it became "Zillow says my house is worth this much...so I need to get at least that" At the beginning of this year it was widely reported in my area that housing prices were dropping quickly on average...but for some reason Zillow was showing my family's houses as going up in price. Maybe they were outliers...maybe there was an error. But it seems to me that when the only place showing prices rising is Zillow...that is an issue. Edit for clarity: Zillow seemed to me to be no different than MLS but with a speculative aspect.
