You haven't stated, but seem to imply that the stated rumors would not be founded at the time they start being spread. I'm not a lawyer, but spreading unfounded rumors for any purpose (much less with the intent to cause financial harm) seems unwise. Disclaimer: left Goldman a couple years ago.
