A $40 tip is wild unless you’re talking about taking the entire family out to a nice restaurant, lol. I remember 20 years ago, the general rule was to tip at least 10%, then at some point it changed to 20%. I abide by that. If it was great service, I tip 20%, if it wasn’t very good, I tip 10%.
