I think it's probably worth displaying some of these remains if only to remind people that we're not some new idea, that we're mortal and fallible, and that people have been doing things for a very long time now. To remind us that what we know with utmost certainty to be true today may not be tomorrow.
As it is, humans spend insufficient time ruminating on the lessons of the past, in my opinion.
I'm not opposed to making them available for return to their cultural sources and communities, however. Worth also noting that despite the terrible circumstances of their acquisition, at least these remains will be painstakingly conserved in some of these institutions.
