Bookmarked this tutorial to check it out later. I tried setting up Nix today, and disappointed. I thought the workflow would be very similar to a dependency manager like pip or NPM; that I would `nix install <x>`, some config file would be auto-updated, and I would check it into version control. Turned out I was very wrong; right now apparently one has manually edit a config file to install things if they want that workflow. Otherwise, the best you can do is export all your packages installed with Nix to a .txt file, not a configuration.nix file...
