Calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from oil+gas production and processing
- defrost 3y agoThis appears to be a unit of Python 3 code released by Equinor on Github Equinor is an international energy company committed to long-term value creation in a low-carbon future. Our purpose is to turn natural resources into energy for people and progress for society. Equinor’s portfolio of projects encompasses oil and gas, renewables and low-carbon solutions, with an ambition of becoming a net-zero energy company by 2050. Headquartered in Stavanger (Norway), Equinor is the leading operator on the Norwegian continental shelf. We are present in around 30 countries worldwide. Sans documentation (?) the graphic suggests that the eCalc module is constrained by some standard model of a north sea rig extracting from a reservoir (with injection) and will model energy consumption and emmissions. So, not a world model of global energy use and emissions from the oil & gas sector. Currently carries a "a work in progress" caveat with the provisio that: quality of the results produced by eCalc™ is highly dependent on the quality of the input data. and it appears to have no generic input data attached so you might have to guess using numbers from your own back yard extraction rig setup. Other code blobs from the Equinor set look interesting (eg: XTGeo for subsurface reservoir modelling). As a wild guess, this is industry code from an industry looking for geoengineering coding types to come onboard, perhaps.
