Same move as Tesla.
- wlesieutre 3y agoOpposite move as Tesla, they started on the expensive end to finance scaling up the cheaper ones. Meanwhile Intel is going after the cheap ones to try and get a budget to tackle the more difficult AI/ML GPU market.
- jerome-jh 3y agoStarting with low-end is also a way to use aging factories.
- wlesieutre 3y agoYeah it makes sense for their respective industries. There’s no dramatic manufacturing breakthroughs between a Model 3 and a Model S, just features and material quality, with the S having lower quantities at a higher profit margin. Going back further there’s the Roadster, and it’s a good thing that was a niche vehicle because they hadn’t settled on the Supercharger design yet.
