I have the privilege of working at a smaller company, where I get to pick my tools and write software primarily solo in an engineering context, and where the requests of the peers and clients using my tools make their way to me with great detail. I have lengthy mathematical analysis discussions with my boss on a nearly daily basis. I can see the value I am creating almost directly. I consider myself incredibly lucky and count my blessings every day.
