I'm in the same boat. Eventually they made it so that after 3 videos you're blocked. My subconscious rejoiced that I'd be free from the distraction hopefully forever, but then after applying the next Firefox update (I also have adblock plus) suddenly the popups stopped and I'm back to relying on my own strength of will to avoid youtube. It's not going well.
