OSX is the only operating system that can run iTunes, Office, Photoshop/Fireworks, Ruby, Python, bash scripts, Apache, Mysql without virtualization or any weird and unfun hacks (yeah, cygwin, I'm looking at you!).
- mahmud 15y agoI have run ALL on Windows, no cygwin necessary :-)
- insertnickname 15y agoHow do you run Bash scripts on Windows?
- reidrac 15y agoMinGW is awesome: http://www.mingw.org/wiki/MSYS http://www.mingw.org/wiki/MSYS It's not Cygwin "MinGW, being Minimalist, does not, and never will, attempt to provide a POSIX runtime environment for POSIX application deployment on MS-Windows. If you want POSIX application deployment on this platform, please consider Cygwin instead."; there's no emulation layer at all.
- dagw 15y agoI Run all those on Windows without any problems.
- gnaritas 15y agoIf he'd have said portable bash scripts, then Windows can't do it without cygwin.
- emidln 15y agoYou seem to imply that running iTunes and Office are good things. That seems...odd.
