South Korea Had High Hopes for 5G. What Happened?
- gnicholas 3y ago> Things didn’t work out as expected, thanks in part to technical problems and a lack of consumer demand I never understood why consumers were supposed to care. With LTE, my cell phone got an internet connection that's faster than my home connection. I don't care if it gets faster with 5G, and most people I talked with felt the same way. The only people who ever tried to convince me otherwise worked for Samsung, or other companies with a vested interest in the rollout. I can understand the benefits for things like autonomous vehicles, but I never got why people would want 5G on their phones. Since there aren't currently many/any vehicles that benefit from such massive speeds, it makes sense that there just wasn't much consumer demand.
