That's pretty interesting. I imagine the reason it isnt used is because the surface is complex. Its not as simple as standing on something writing a number, standing next to something and writing a number. You need to keep the angle correct and make sure the starting location is correct. Wonder if you could use 2 side photos to calculate it, or 1 overhead.
