It's quite transparent about its income in that document.
> Bellingcat does not accept direct government funding, it only accepts contributions from international or intergovernmental institutions like the EU, OSCE or the UN.
The purpose of those keen to hammer the 'Bellingcat is a CIA front' line is quite obviously to undermine excellent investigative journalism that more often than not reveals facts and details that embarrass their worldview.

And the people at "The Grayzone" (the original source for the article you linked upthread) offer "sympathetic coverage of authoritarian regimes" and have worked on behalf of the Russian government: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grayzone https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grayzone: > Grayzone writers such as Blumenthal and Aaron Maté acted as briefers on behalf of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations at UN meetings organised by Russia.[34][35][36][37] It's founder has also been paid by the Russian government and attended a party with Putin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Blumenthal#Affiliations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Blumenthal#Affiliations: > Blumenthal has contributed to broadcasts on RT (formerly known as Russia Today) on many occasions.[8] In December 2015, during a visit to Moscow presumed by multiple sources to have been paid for by the Kremlin,[20][23] Blumenthal was a guest at RT's 10 Years On Air anniversary party attended by President Vladimir Putin... > He has contributed on multiple occasions to Sputnik radio,[23][26] as well as to Iran's Press TV[27][28] and China's CGTN.[29] Blumenthal founded The Grayzone website within a month after his visit to Moscow.[13] Edit: Also, why has the Grayzone not been transparent about who funds them? The Wikipedia page mentions Patreon funding (which does not seem anywhere near a sufficient amount, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSU5QjxEg_Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSU5QjxEg_Q) and "private friends of [Blumenthal]." That's quite suspicious, given how much they focus on who is funding who. Are they hiding something?
