I think that would be not a short cable, but more like Mophie juice pack (it’s a case with external battery). Also, back in the days I bought a card reader for an iPad 3, for 30 pins connector. Could be something similar, as SD-cards are quite big these days as well.
- Cockbrand 3y agoI’d assume that SD cards don’t provide the required write speed, limited by their flash memory or even the interface specs.

Considering the case would be quite fat and rigid for the SSD alone, it would make sense to skip cable shenanigans and just use a 'dock style' connector.
