Physicist claims he has new evidence we're simply characters in a virtual world

- dieselgate 3y agoWow kind of a wild read. Not able to comment on the science-side of all this but there's a lot to unpack - entropy, symmetry, and apocalypse. Seems there's a rotating headline for "scientist explains universe" type stuff and they all just kind of fade into obscurity. Shrug, how can this be disproven rather than wait for the proposed doom? > And he warned that the number of digital bits will overtake the number of atoms on Earth within 150 years, leading to 'information catastrophe'. That quote is rich
- hirundo 3y agoI recently read a layperson's history of entropy, "Einstein's Fridge". A recurring theme is that discoveries in that field take many years to be accepted. Boltzmann, for example, was just ignored for many years. But they're some of the most productive insights in all of physics. My own evidence for the simulation theory is the huge advance in our game technology in my lifetime. Whether or not we're living in a simulation, at this rate we'll be able to build a convincing one in another life span.
