There is the typical experience in IT, that too many people have the mindset of not reading manuals and just try to figure out things on their own. Because of which there is for decades the typical reaction of experts in form of RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual!).
- keepamovin 3y agoI appreciate your input, Anon! :) I thought that this experience and reaction was typically due to frustration or incredulity from the experts when asked questions by novices, when it was perfectly possible for the novices to have just read the manual. BTW - fucking manual is kind of funny. Do they mean the Kama Sutra? Haha :) I think it's the first time I encountered it from someone just reacting to someone else's joy who has independently discovered something awesome. And wasn't bothering any experts to get there, just on their own. It is indeed a bit Scrooge-like to be bah-humbugging at joy. Hahaha! I guess the person might have just been having a bad day. Bad week? Bad year? I don't know. But if someone is just suffering, I don't think it's good to respond with meanness, especially if their upset is not targeted at and has nothing to do with, you. You can't make too much of people's triggered reactions to things that don't have anything to do with you! :)
