Indeed, I think the model that conflates the shell and the editor in the same user experience is really convenient, and I've sorely missed it ever since my Spectrum was "tidied away."
It is not meant to scale to large projects, of course, but it provides a distractions-free learning experience.
- zozbot234 3y agoOberon and the Plan 9 environment (which is inspired by Oberon) do it the other way around: you write something in a text editor and use a subsequent input (usually via the mouse) to execute it as a command.
