- syspec 3y agoThe honors for all approach taken by the second school in the article is interesting. Placing ALL incoming freshmen students in honors classes, and providing catch-up courses for the students who were behind. In the following sophomore year, students of all groups had higher enrollment in AP / Honors courses
- gnicholas 3y agoI live in the district where M-A is located. Some teachers wrote an articulate defense of reinstating honors classes and not clumping all kids together regardless of ability level. [1] Unfortunately the administration wants to push through this "detracking" effort and is unswayed by logic, facts, or common sense. It's worth noting that the "report" the district released does not establish causation, just correlations. At the time they implemented these changes, many other changes were put in place as well. And of course, COVID happened. So much confounding, so little time. 1: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DFmFJvfkKBOw6XFhyjFV2yO2F1AO-DA95pr5gc8mOEs/edit https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DFmFJvfkKBOw6XFhyjFV2yO2...
