My feeling is that customers don't want what Microsoft is pushing. AI is a novelty. It can write essays for kids but real life doesn't need paragraphs of waffle, just pointed communication. People don't want to talk to their computers either. The modern world is insular, private and unspacious. People don't want to talk to their devices, and don't want to be seen talking to their devices. Where is the place for this gadgetry?
