- practal 3y agoGreat talk, thanks for sharing! I am looking for a way to finance building and maintaining the thing I want to build, and this talk was a nice reminder that donations actually CAN work. Otherwise, VCs are interested in an "Exit" event, but what if you as the founder are not? It doesn't sound like you are interested in exiting zig any time soon, either.
- AndyKelley 3y agoThat's exactly right, and I already have eliminated that option for myself, since ZSF is a non-profit that is legally operated by a board that protects the mission statement of the organization.
- 1-more 3y agoForgive me if this is written up somewhere, but how did you find board members? And once you have a board I can see how you would govern who gets on the board, but how do you solve the bootstrapping problem going from zero to board? Again, I'm sure these are basic questions but I don't even know the terms of art to know what to search for. Also zig is cool and thank you for the technical and gubernatorial guidance you've given to other language authors all over.
