Seniors are not productive economically, middle age people are and maybe the news has finally come to the end of the who-to-blame cycle. Which makes sense since 2024 is a election year.
Well, at least we're off the "millennials kill everything" streak. This could be the start of a "seniors kill everything" streak.

I remember books going way back to the 1960s that parroted the line that young people are the most desirable demographic for advertising and I still see it today with that same mimentic intensity of the brainwashed soldiers in The Manchurian Candidate reading back the lines that were fed to them. Since 2000 it is rare to see an ad on television for anything that a person of working age buys out of their own pocket money, though ads for things your insurance or government benefits pay for run wall-to-wall. (Ok, there is an occasional ad for a car dealer but if nobody was buying cars, who could get hit by a car and call William Mattar?) I think it got bad enough that between 2005-2010 they pulled back a bit on the ads that make "wish that I die before I get old" because it was so offensive some people were quitting watching TV, but who knows, maybe it is one of the reasons so many middle aged people are suiciding. Even today if you look at the ads on a lot of web sites, scam ads for seniors, that even specifically use the word "seniors" are the dominant kind of ad. ("e.g. intermittent fasting challenge for seniors" that you know has nothing to do with intermittent fasting but will lead to some video of somebody droning on for three hours and incredibly, somebody signs up for a scam supplement subscription that they'll never be able to cancel.)
